Jewelry Appraisals and The Victims of Loss

Thursday, January 31st, 2008

By David Foard This is one of those Damned if you do and Damned if you dont situations, so I guess no matter what happens, people are not going to win including me. So I had better start by telling you what I mean by being the Victim of Loss. We have all been the victim of loss at some time or another and it doesnt have to be a crime. Hurricane Katrina is just the latest (extreme) example because of two reasons. The first: We all put things off until its too late. The second: Because we think we are indestructible and it wont happen to us. If you had read the blurb on our Jewelry Appraisal website, you will have remembered where I mentioned being ‘The Victim of Loss’ and how we all tend to put it off until it’s too late. It is something I am *VERY* passionate about as I have seen first hand just how much it can effect everyone - nobody is immune. And that reminds us of the Hurricane disaster. These poor people in the Gulf States have become victims of loss on a HUGE scale. # They have lost their Homes…. # They have lost their jobs - income - places to work…. # They have lost family members - pets - friends…. Okay so houses can be rebuilt homes are what you carry inside you. Its a feeling.Jobs income will be replaced. Places to work and the memories - they are gone.Family Friends and even pets (which are often the greatest friend and often treated as family) will be mourned and missed and longed for. And the people of the Gulf States Americans Guests they have become Victims of Loss too, yet we shouldnt forget some of the small personal things in life they can’t replace. Personal things which mean more than Houses and Cars and Jobs even. # Family Photographs…. # Birth and Wedding Certificates…. # Treasured Jewelry…. *Just think about that for a moment.* # Family Photographs…. # Birth and Wedding Certificates…. # Treasured Jewelry…. Everything’s gone. They have become the worst cases of ‘Victims of Loss’ we can possibly imagine, and we all should do something to help. But how? (I can almost hear you thinking). So what can we do? We are so far away. We are too small to make a difference. But please think about this for a moment longer. Think how lucky you are. Try to imagine what they must be going through - right now - while you’re eating your Breakfast - while you’re in work - Having a Night out with your family or friends. Hard, isn’t it? The first thing we can all do is donate, so please use the charity you feel happy with. That helps relieve the pain today. But we need to do more - for tomorrow - for everyone else. So what I’m suggesting is a two step method. The first gets cash into the hands of the people who need it - The second (I hope) prevents YOUR family and friends from suffering in the same way by being prepared - By NOT becoming the ‘Victim of Loss’ in the future. We might be able to generate just a little extra than if we just dropped five bucks in a collection tin somewhere. That brings me back to the Damned if you do and Damned if you dont situation mentioned at the top of this article. We dont under any circumstances want this to sound like a Pitch to get more business. Thats not what we are saying. If ANYBODY just shrugged their shoulders and muttered Nothin we can do then they are Damned if they dont. If they use whatever means they have to help They are Damned if they do Thats when people get caught in that Damned expression. SO THE IMPORTANT PART IS YOUR CONTRIBUTION - and I don’t mean money either. This is a TWO part study remember? We are asking you urging you - to tell your workmates, your family, your friends how they can prevent, in part, becoming the ‘Victim of Loss’ by getting their family photos scanned and copied. Get their Special documents (Wedding and Birth Certificates) scanned and copied. Get their Jewelry Appraisals done right now - before it’s too late. You see, even some of the victims down in New Orleans had personal Jewelry. Heck some of them may even of had an up-to-date Appraisal Certificate locked in their bedroom drawer. Guess where that piece of paper is now? It’s gone, along with the jewelry, photographs and personal possessions. The gold and silver and diamonds are lost in the mud. That physical appraisal is not worth the paper it WAS written on. That’s why I often stress the benefits of doing your appraisal ONLINE! No matter what happens (and it’s already happened to many) your treasured details are safely locked in a database somewhere, which you can access 24/7 from anywhere in the world. In short - you will be able to replace your personal Jewelry exactly! # No guesswork (I think it was 14ct). # No second best (I’m sure it was a Diamond - but maybe not?) # No short measure (my wife’s chain was longer than that). So our message is this…. Do it Now before it’s too late….Tell a friend - tell your neighbor and be thankful you still have one. Your small recommendation to others, is for the future. Spread the word - Pass it on - And don’t become the ‘Victim of Loss’. regards and please watch the road. David Foard F.G.A.A. Understanding How To Pray - Part 1 of 2

Monday, January 28th, 2008

By Daryl Frisbee Being in the Ministry for a few years now, Ive noticed one majorissue that most Christians seem to have trouble with that issue is understanding prayer. I can not count how many times people talk as if prayer is a foreign thing, or the numbers of prayers will equal success with getting God to move on your part. I too, have struggled with this issue for many years. I use to think that prayer was some form of special God given talent; futhermore, I would try and find someone who I thought could really pray, to pray for me, as if their great prayers could help me in my problems. I can recall seeing a church billboard saying “praying with many tears can move mountains with God.” As I was reading this sign, the Spirit of God moved on me and said, “prayer of tears will not make me move, only prayers that are based on the word of God.” With Gods words, hovering in my heart, I started to think about that statement, “Only prayers that are based on the word of God will make God move.” I have always tried to base my prayers on what the Bible said, yet with little to no real action from God. So what are prayers based on the word of God. Well, that is what we are going to explore in this newsletter. We will start the process of Understanding Prayer. First thing I would recommend for you is to forget everything you know about prayer, and with this study to start and rebuild your thought and understanding of prayer. Now some might say, Brother Daryl that is a big statement, and I would reply “Yes it is”, yet I am almost confident that you, as I was have learned prayer in an religious form, and not what the Bible says prayer is. Now, there are numerous types of prayer, and I will not be going into the different prayers. I want to show you what prayer is, and how you can to start to use prayer in an effective way. Prayers based on the word of God, are not easy prayers. If you are going to base your prayer on the word of God, then you are going to have to know the word of God. Let’s look at Joshua 1:5-9 “No man will be able to stand before you all the days of your life. Just as I have been with Moses, I will be with you; I will not fail you or forsake you. [6]” Be strong and courageous, for you shall give this people possession of the land which I swore to their fathers to give them. [7]” Only be strong and very courageous; be careful to do according to all the law which Moses My servant commanded you; do not turn from it to the right or to the left, so that you may have success wherever you go. [8] ” This book of the law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do according to all that is written in it; for then you willmake your way prosperous, and then you will have success. [9] ” Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous! Do not tremble or be dismayed, for the Lord! your God is with you wherever you go.” Notice, in the above scripture; God told him to not let thebook or words of the Law depart from his mouth. Why is that? Well God has put his will for us in the word of God, and we must know the word of God in order to understand what God’s will is for our life. 2 Tim. 2:15 “Be diligent to present yourself approved to God as a workman who does not need to be ashamed, accurately handling the word of truth.” Have you ever wondered why you must handle the word of God with such care? It’s not that you must quote the scriptures to people, or be able to argue the scriptures at a moment notice. Their must be a reason why God puts so much infuness on the word of God? Psalm 119:76 “O may your lovingkindness comfort me, According to Your word to your servant.” This scripture shows a key for the reason that we must study theword of God and keep it before us daily. The world of God is our guide to what God wants in our life. Remember, in 1 Joshua 1:8 reads “This book of the law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do according to all that is written in it; for then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have success.” Now, for when you will make your way prosperous. There is defiantly a connection between what we speak and the word of God. We can see this even more clearly in some New Testament teachings. Mark 11:24 “Therefore I say to you, all things for which you pray and ask, believe that you have received them, and they will be granted you.” Here is another key to understanding prayer, Jesus says what ever we ask for in prayer, believe that we have received them. Jesus is giving us the definition of faith. Hebrews 11:1-2 “Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen. [2] For by it the men of old gained approval.” In its basic form, pray must be firm and rooted in faith. So one may ask, Brother Daryl, if it must be firm and rooted in faith, why are you telling me it must be based on the word of God. Here is why. It must be firm, in order, to believe what you ask for. If you really don’t believe that you will receive, then you will not hold fast to your prayer. James 1:6-8 “But he must ask in faith without any doubting, for the one who doubts is like the surf of the sea, driven and tossed by the wind. [7] For that man ought not to expect that he will receive anything from the Lord, [8] being a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways.” And how can it be rooted in faith with out the word of God? Hebrews 11:6 “And without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is and that He is a rewarder of those who seek Him.” Hebrews tells us that it is impossible to please God without faith, and if we are going to approach God we must believe that he is a rewarder of those who seek him. This can not get much simpler. We need faith in order to get our prayers answered. So how do we get this faith? Hebrews 12:2 “Fixing our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of faith, who for the joy set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.” First we must understand that Jesus is the author and finisher ofour faith. This means that we have the same faith as Jesus has. He was the creator of your faith and he had perfected your faith. So, why can we not get any prayers answered, simple we are not applying our faith to the will of God. For the most part, most of us do not really know what Gods will is for us, so how can we pray it. There lies the problem, when we pray “Father if it be they will” this is really a cop out, it’s a lazy prayer. If we are going to get results in our life, we are going to have to know the will of God for our life, and there is only one way of doing this, by faith. How is faith built? Romans 10:17 “So faith comes from hearing, and hearing by the word of Christ.” We can see it’s by reading the word of God, our Bible, what we can get our faith to operate at full potential. See Jesus created the faith, and the word of God will prefect it. We need to quite trying to con God into answering our prayers. What we need to do is start to understand how to pray. Think of prayer like a baseball player. Does he get up to bat to strike out? No, he wants to hit a home run every time he gets up to bat. And that is how we should be, Prayer is hard work, and it’s like home work when you’re in school. You will get out of prayer what you put into it. In conclusion, it’s by knowing the word of God, and keeping the word in our mouth that we can start to produce the faith that will please God and get him to move on our part. It is not how much you pray, or how many times a day that you pray, it’s really what you are saying that will make the difference in your prayer life. Base your pray’s on the word of God and you will see God move in your life. In Part 2 of Understanding Prayer, I will show you how to Pray Effectively. I will show you how to apply this lesson as well as part 2, and you will have the right foundation to be a Master in the art of Prayer. How to Find a Drug Rehab in Florida?

Sunday, January 27th, 2008

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Jeff_Lakie] Jeff Lakie When you’re in need, the quickest way is the best: if you put drug rehab in Florida in your search engine, the first page it finds will be the right one. There you’ll find all the information you need, including addresses, contact information as well as some number and explanations to how they are going to help drug addicts. Just be warned that there are two kinds of treatments: inpatient and outpatient. Unlike you probably think, both of them should be attended for a long time (the longer the better), the difference is elsewhere. Inpatient one requires patients to move to a rehab center, while outpatient allows them onsite drug rehab. In Florida there are plenty of treatments of both kinds - as far as I know the first ones are used to cure more serious cases, while the second is usually just prophylactics. Detox: a necessary step in drug rehab programs. Whichever kind of treatment you choose, detox will be the first step in your drug rehab. Florida is no exception here: at all treatment centers patients have to go through the detox. There are three stages of it: (1) Medical, when your body gets clear of narcotic. The process is supervised by doctors to ensure the safety of your health. When this stage ends, you may be sure that the most painful phase is behind you and you’re ready to go to the next stage: (2) Physical detox. When you’re no longer poisoned, the time comes to build up your ruined body. In this stage of drug rehab the most important person is your nutritionist, who helps you to create the diet that will suit your needs. It ends at the moment when your body is healthy. The only remaining problem is your psyche. (3) Emotional detox. Here comes the last, the least painful, but the most important part: curing your emotional addiction. Every drug rehab in Florida offers you some counseling in the process. It doesn’t really matter what exactly they do. All of it works as long as you COMPLETE THE PROCESS. After three-four months of therapy your addiction is no more as long as you don’t start it again - and that’s why you need this stage. You have started to use drugs for some reasons, haven’t you? IT Marketing: Join Organizations

Saturday, January 26th, 2008

By Joshua Feinberg In IT marketing, personal referrals you’re going to find are by far the most powerful way to get great prospects. Personal referrals are already in a lot of ways pre-sold and they already trust you. In the IT services business, unlike just selling a product, trust carries a tremendous amount of weight. In this article, you’ll learn how to get more personal referrals for your IT marketing. IT Marketing: The Trust Factor People look for an IT consultant the same way if you were looking for a good dentist or a good internist or a good attorney or a good accountant. Yes, some people go to the Yellow Pages for that. Some people even look in coupon packs or billboards, but for the most part, especially when it’s something that’s really critical to your personal health or personal well-being or your business, personal word of mouth referrals carry a lot of weight. Become Well-Known in Your Community One of the best ways for you to tap into and reach these decision makers that own these companies is to raise your personal and your business profile in your local community within that target market. There are a couple ways that you can do that, but they do take a little bit of time. One strategy is networking. This is a huge thing that can make or break the success of any kind of solution provider firm - it’s all about relationships. It’s a people business. Anyone that tells you it’s a tech business is dead wrong. It’s about your interpersonal skills. It’s about trust. IT Marketing: How To Get More Recommendations How do you get more personal recommendations? You have to know more people. How do you do that? Join organizations and attend events on a regular basis. That doesn’t mean you have to go to every single breakfast, networking luncheon, business after-hours function under the sun, but if you join organizations and you go to a big part of those functions over the course of the year, you’re going to get to know a lot of people. Over time you’re going to get better at identifying the kinds of people who are better at leading you to opportunities. The Bottom Line on IT Marketing Personal referrals are great for your IT marketing efforts. To get more referrals, you need to know more people. So join organizations and attend regularly to show people you are trustworthy and get more referrals. Copyright MMI-MMVI, Small Business Computer Consulting .com. Registration Forms: How to Make Them Irresistible with Personality

Friday, January 25th, 2008

By Bill Flagg You can create an irresistible offer by humanizing the registration process. Help your potential registrants know that you are real, caring people behind the scenes. The more your registration process shows you care about your registrants, the more comfortable people will feel signing up for your event. Share with them in a way that you would want if you were the registrant. Ask yourself the following questions:Are you providing enough information to answer ALL questions they might have? Do you have real contact names and information accessible throughout your registration process versus info@abc.com and a generic 800 #? Do you have an FAQ section about your event available on your website? Does your writing style attract them? Do you use “you” in your text versus describing the event or “we”? Do you use less than 15 words per sentence? Do you use simple words in place of complex ones? Do you avoid clichs and syrupy say-nothing slogans? Are you putting some heart into it? Raise your empathy index to attract more registrants In some cases, anxiety arises because a prospective attendee may feel your organization is an impersonal entity. This is especially true if the event is very large. You can help to reduce this anxiety by listing a staff member’s name for the registrant to call. By listing a name with the registration number, you convince the perceptive attendee that they will receive personalized attention. A provider reassures a prospective attendee that individual attention is being given to registrations. Frequently Asked Questions Don’t make your audience hunt for answers to their questions. Anticipate frequently asked questions and list them in your promotional materials and on the website. With a registration site armed with answers, you are more likely to convey that you have anticipated your registrants questions and concerns and put thought into their experience. I sincerely hope this article makes your conference and event registration even more successful! How to Deal With a Collection Agency

Thursday, January 24th, 2008

By Stu Pearson If you are currently being contacted by a collection agency, the feeling can be awful. With the calls and letters coming in most every day, it probably seems as if there is no end in sight. However, there are some simple and effective measures that you can take to stop the contact for good. In this article, lets take a look at how to deal with a collection agency. The most obvious method for getting rid of a collection agency is to simply pay off the debt. However, the fact that the debt has reached a collection agency is probably a good indication that you are unable to. If you have a trusted friend or family member, maybe you can explain your situation and borrow the money from them. The simple fact is that the sooner the debt gets settled, the sooner the collection agency will stop contacting you. O.K., lets assume that you do not have the finances or the resources available to pay off the debt. Now what? Well, the best advice regardless of your situation is to never ignore the letters or the calls. It may be scary having to actually speak with the collection agency, but ignoring the contact will only make the situation worse. Most of the time, a collection agency will be very interested in hearing your side of the story, and they will be more willing to make arrangements that you will be able to meet. Let them know that you are not avoiding the debt, and that you are committed to paying the debt in time. The collection agency will then work with you to come up with a viable payment plan. Better yet, if you are able to follow through with the plan, it is guaranteed that the calls and letters will stop completely. What happens if you are contacted by an aggressive collection agency that is not willing to make an arrangement? Let me assure you; these agencies are few and far between. The days of browbeating a debtor are nearly extinct. This is due to the FDCPA (Fair Debt Collections Practices Act), a law designed to protect consumers from harassing or abusive collection methods. However, if you still find yourself faced with a collection agency that is unwilling to work with you, take note of the practices they employ. They could very well be in violation of this act. If that turns out to be the case, make sure you document all calls for improprieties, and contact a lawyer who deals in such matters. It should be mentioned that just because a collection agency wont make an arrangement or payment plan, this doesnt necessarily mean that they are in violation of the FDCPA. It only means the possibility exists, because most quality agencies are willing to work with a debtor to get the debt resolved. Now that you know how to deal with a collection agency, you can work towards ending the calls and letters once and for all. Think of how great it will feel to have the situation behind you, and do your best to meet any arrangements made in clearing your debt. Good luck! Fall Blooming Wildflower - Zig Zag Goldenrod Solidago Flexicaulis

Wednesday, January 23rd, 2008

By Paul Wonning Goldenrod Zig Zag Solidago flexicaulis Family - Compositeae - Daisy The Zig Zag Goldenrod is the most unlikely looking member of this large family. Most of the members of the Solidago tribe have flower spikes at the top of the plant, and have narrow, dagger shaped leaves. The leaves on this one are broader, the flower clusters appearing at the joint (axil) of the leaf and stem. There will also be a rounded flower cluster at the top of the plant. Like all goldenrods, the flower color is bright yellow. The leaves and flowers have sort of a zig zag fashion along the stem. Solidago flexicaulis has a fairly wide range, appearing from North Dakota, Minnesota and Quebec, Canada in the north, south to Georgia and west to Arkansas. It will be found in rich woodlands and thickets and will grow from one to three feet tall. The goldenrod family is a fairly large, fall blooming group of wildflowers. The Zig Zag Goldenrod should be one of the easier of the Solidago tribe to identify, because it is so different from the others. But because of these differences, one may not think it is a goldenrod, and begin searching in other families of plants in a field guide. But the bright yellow flowers are the trademark butter yellow of the other types and they brighten any spot of woodland which they inhabit. 8 Steps You Need To Take to Get Fit - And Stay That Way!

Tuesday, January 22nd, 2008

By Suzanne Hiscock Have you ever had that weight loss “moment”? You know the one I mean. That “moment” where you realize that if you keep doing what you’re doing, your weight is going to continue ballooning to the point of no return? That moment where you say, “Enough is enough!” That moment where you realize you need to make changes now. Not tomorrow, not ’starting on Monday,’ but N-O-W. Maybe it was when you couldn’t breathe while bending over to tie your shoe, maybe it was a number on a scale that you thought you’d never see. Whatever the moment, it’s there and it’s real. Here’s an easy 8 step plan to help you use that moment as a starting point to break out of that weight loss rut that you’re in. Step 1 - Know Thyself You can’t get somewhere unless you know where you are right now! Get your weight loss starting point by visiting your doctor for a complete analysis of your health. If you have any health problems, get those taken care of right away. Know what your official weight is, what your blood pressure is, and anything else that will draw that line in the sand for you, that will tell you, “From this point on, things will change.”Step 2 - Change Your Attitude Changing your attitude to can go a long way to permanent weight loss. There are no quick fixes when it comes to weight loss! Commitment and hard work are what’s needed. This is big step for most people. Weight loss is not about fitting into a bikini or wanting to look good for someone else. It’s about things like strength, health, vitality, and energy. You have to want to change your bad habits. If you dont change your attitude, you’re going to end up right back where you are, no matter how much weight you lose. Step 3 - Know How Much You’re Eating To help your weight loss, you need to know how much you eat right now. Guessing just doesn’t work. People often underestimate the amount of calories they eat. Tracking calories can be a real eye-opener! There are several online fitness trackers that will help you to track calories, or do it the old-fashioned way, with a pen and paper. Spend time reading labels, looking up the calorie content of foods online, and measuring what you eat. You don’t have to do it forever! But do it at least for one week to get an idea of how many calories you eat in a typical day.Step 4 - Start Exercising Exercise will speed up weight loss and get your muscles growing. Even if you only last 5 minutes, do it! Start off small and work your way up. Walk, dance around the house with the kids. Whatever it is, just move! (Get your doctor’s okay if you’ve been inactive for awhile.)Step 5 - Learn About Nutrition For safe weight loss, it’s not just about calories. You need to eat nutritious food. Eat, Drink, and Be Healthy: The Harvard Medical School Guide to Healthy Eating by Dr. Walter Willet is an excellent place to start reading up on nutrition. Remember that food is the fuel for your body. If you’re hungry, eat! Starving is one sure way to sabotage your weight loss. Step 6 - Put Yourself First If you’re serious about weight loss, then you must make YOU a priority in your life. Unless there’s an emergency, things (and people) can wait half an hour if you’re heading out for a walk. Remember, putting yourself first does not mean youre being selfish! Becoming fit and healthy is truly a wonderful gift to give yourself; thats not being selfish at all. Step 7 - Go Easy on Yourself Once things seem to be falling into place, youll need to remember that we all have bad days. Stop whatever bad thing you’re doing, pat yourself on the back for stopping yourself when you did, and tell yourself youll make better choices tomorrow. Step 8 - Keep At It Fitness is a lifelong commitment! You can’t just lose weight and return to old eating habits. Permanent weight loss means permanent changes in your life, so make sure all the changes you make are ones you can live with. And dont ever give up. Even if it feels like youre going two step forwards and one back, pick yourself up and get back on track. Remember, youre only one meal or one workout away to getting back on track! By Ron Zvagelsky Dating in Sacramento can be fun if you know the places to go to. Sacramento offers a lot of entertainment and hotel facilities for dating couples but why go there when there are ways to make your date unique and memorable? For those who are single and shy, they can take advantage of dating sites in Sacramento that pair Sacramento singles and then organize a date for them in one or more of Sacramentos dating sites. But if you want to go for a unique date in Sacramento then why not tour the city in style? Hire a carriage drawn by a horse and take your date to a tour of the Sacramento town. Dont forget to have your camera ready because you and your date would not want to miss the opportunity to brag about this experience when you get home. Riding a carriage drawn by a horse can be an exhilarating experience especially for the city-bred. Dating and roaming the town of Sacramento while on a carriage ride would be doubly exciting. If you and your date are bikers then you can go bike-dating in Sacramento. The bike trail stretching from the Old Sacramento is a good venue for biking while basking under the sun and the view of a serene river is great. You can rent the bikes right at your hotel or in any park in Sacramento. To make your date more memorable, why not visit the Jelly Bean Factory in Sacramento? This company is well known for the over a hundred jellybean candies and gummies that it sells to people. Its more like visiting a candy factory and what can be a better date than in a factory that produces sweet things? Even former President Ronald Reagan got hooked on jelly beans when he was still governor. Reagan apparently wanted to quit his pipe habit and only the jelly beans got him off sucking on his pipe! It would be a fun place to go to and your date would surely enjoy the day with you and will definitely look forward to spending more time with you again. So hook your date and get hooked in Sacramento! Ron Zvagelsky has a degree in Business Administration from the University of Southern California.
